Paloma Úbeda Mansilla

Paloma Úbeda Mansilla is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Applied Linguistics for Science and Technology at the Technical University of Madrid. A multi-disciplinary teaching perspective in several socio-cultural experience backgrounds has defined her research interests, which currently focus on the design of teaching materials within a cognitive scope.

Career history

She received a PhD in English Language Didactics from the UCM (Madrid) with the Doctorate “Extraordinary Award” in 2000. She has been teaching English and Spanish as a second language for 24 years at different educational levels from Primary to Higher Education, abroad and in Spain. She taught Spanish at Exeter University, St Johns University of York (U.K) and in several Secondary Schools in Sweden. She is currently lecturing Spanish and English subjects in the field of Academic and Professional Communication to native and non-native English speakers at the Technical University of Madrid. She is the author of several books, research articles published in international and national journals, and papers presented in conferences on Linguistics and Education. She is responsible for several Erasmus bilateral teaching agreements between UK and the School of Architecture of Madrid where she has been teaching since 1994. Paloma has led the Group for Innovation in Education (GIE APLAI) from its foundation in 2007, and conducted several innovation in education research projects.
