Joana Pierce-McMahon

Joana Pierce-McMahon (PhD) is an Associate Professor Interim in the Department of Applied Linguistics for Science and Technology at the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Her research interests are Genre analysis, Assessment, Curriculum development and English for Specific Purposes.

Career history

She holds a PhD in English Linguistics from the University of Cordoba and a Masters in Education from the School of International Training (Vermont, USA). She has held positions at the University of Cordoba, Universidad Europea de Madrid (Director of the Department), and María Cristina Royal University. Currently she is a Lecturer at the Technical University of Madrid. She has published numerous book chapters and articles and has attended several national and international Conferences. She has been involved in various national and international research projects. She serves as reviewer for JCR Assessment and evaluation in Higher Education as well as English for Specific Purposes among others. Joana also heads the team for International Accreditation for Engineering degrees at the School of Mining and Energy UPM.
