Georgina Cuadrado-Esclapez

Georgina Cuadrado-Esclapez (PhD) is an Associate Professor in the Department Applied Linguistics for Science and Technology at the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Her main research interests include English for Specific Purposes, Cognitive linguistics, Cognitive semantics, and Conceptual Metaphor in specialised scientific and technical texts.

Career history

PhD in English Philology, Masters in Applied Linguistics and Translation. As Associate Professor in the Technical University of Madrid, she has lectured and tutored Technical English, Translation, and English for Academic Purposes to Agricultural Engineering students from 1998 to 2014, and to Industrial Engineering students from 2014 onwards. She was a Visiting Researcher in Leeds University at The Language Centre (School of Modern Languages and Cultures). She has participated in several research projects and in university-funded innovation projects. She has published various books and book chapters, and over 40 articles in specialist journals and in the proceedings of national and international conferences. Georgina has co-directed the “Cognitive Linguistics Panel” in AELFE International Conferences from 2006 to 2010; and is occasional reviewer for the specialised journals Iberica, Arbor and Sintagma.
